Intense heat continues to grip Punjab, leaving residents struggling with soaring temperatures, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of dry weather and no rainfall in the coming days.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are gradually rising across major cities including the provincial capital, Lahore. The forecast indicates no rainfall and further intensification of heat, worsening the already dry conditions.
In Lahore, temperatures are expected to range between 22°C and 40°C, with humidity levels dropping to just 20 per cent. Experts say the low humidity could aggravate dehydration and physical discomfort.
The increased use of air conditioners in homes, offices, and commercial centres has led to a noticeable spike in electricity consumption and demand across the province.
Southern districts of Punjab may also experience dusty winds in the coming days, the Met Office said, adding that no rain is expected in most regions of the province over the next 24 hours.
Experts have urged the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity and wear protective masks, particularly children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions. “Precaution is essential during extreme heat, especially for vulnerable groups,” health officials advised.
